The Drakensberg Boys Choir is synonymous with high-energy performances. The Drakensberg Boys Choir School is a school for boys that is located in the foothills of the Central Berg near to Monks Cowl. Come and experience a spectacular display of talent and superb entertainment!

The initial part of every concert is given over to classical music that includes Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven or even jazz, folk, or music by Freddie Mercury. Whatever the boys are currently working on. The second half always includes hidden African delights put together as an entertaining medley. This is not simple music by any means. The boys take on complex melodies and difficult rhythms, and rise to the challenge time after time
The construction of a 600 seat auditorium in 1995 with modern sound and lighting equipment allowed the school to reach a new level of professionalism, if you consider that the former hall seated only 80. Today, the choir plays to an auditorium filled to capacity on most Wednesdays during the year.
They have performed, by papal request, for 25,000 people at the Vatican City and on their 25th anniversary received an award as one of the best boys choir’s in the world at the triennial World Boys choir festival in Poland. The Drakensberg Boys perform a wide variety of coral renditions ranging from Bach to Freddy Mercury, with a liberal sprinkling of traditional folk songs from both the African and Afrikaans cultures.
