Antbear Lodge offers horse trails right on our eco farm near to Giants Castle which are particularly suited to beginners.

Hike to the top of the hill on a 3 hour round trip where you can enjoy some spectacular views. Take a picnic lunch with you. A shorter 1 hour trail that visits the dams on the property makes for a lovely stroll in the afternoon.

Drakensberg Mountains

Drakensberg is famous for its hiking routes, with trails for all abilities. The mountains are also home to many nature reserves with waterfalls and abundant wildlife.Our favorite reserves are Giants Castle in the Central Drakensberg and the Royal Natal in the Northern Drakensberg

The Drakensberg mountains contain thousands of Bushman Rock Art sites, evidence of the small, primitive San people who practiced a prehistoric life style in the area long ago.
